Our primary contact with families is the mother and once a family is registered with the project we visit them at home regularly. We are accepted by the men in the community as we are seen as a force for good and indeed many Roma men also visit the project.
Our streams of support are:
The Community Drop-in
Relationships; Crisis; Resources
Health; Education; Debt; Council;
Building Better Futures
Personal Growth-wellbeing; Personal Skills-Literacy; Numeracy; IT; Parenting
Our aim is for families to live flourishing lives in thriving communities.
We recognise that this requires a community where people live peacefully alongside each other and where all people can contribute to society. Consequently, we are planning to develop a fourth stream of support:
As a project we would like to express our thanks to our team of volunteers. Their dedication to serving the most vulnerable people in society and their commitment to social justice is both humbling and inspiring.
We would also like to thank the Roma community in Govanhill for allowing us to accompany them on their journey through life; for allowing us to share with them in their hardships and in their celebrations of life. We are deeply honoured.
